Great atmosphere! My pup is always nervous at the vet and these guys are the first ones to really accommodate her. They prepped everything in the back before taking her so she wouldn’t have to be back with the techs long at all. The vet also took time to inform me about the flu vaccine not being necessary for my dog - I’ve never had that before. We had a great experience.

We have come back to Cabrillo and I'm not sure why we ever left. Had an emergency with our cat the day before Thanksgiving - couldn't get in anywhere and Cabrillo took us. Took us right in at our appointment time; doctor explained all options and treatments; pricing not shocking like so often happens at the vet. Facility is immaculate.

If you’re looking for a vet in San Diego, I highly recommend Cabrillo Pet Hospital! My four dogs see Dr. L, who is tremendously helpful dealing with chronic and acute health concerns. The entire team is compassionate, kind & knowledgeable. It’s clear that they really care about the pets that they see.

We went here for almost 5 years. At first we liked this place, but over time our appointments became more rushed. I never felt like I could ask a couple of quick questions bc the vet was always halfway out the door already. It seems like they are always understaffed and rushing. Sometimes it was hard to get records emailed to us. Our final straw was when I asked if there was time to ask a vet a quick question or even get a call back later at a convenient time and the vet tech bit my head off and was so rude about it. My question was about whether they had seen many cases of the new respiratory virus that had been in the news and if we should have any concerns for boarding, and she acted like that was a completely unreasonable thing to ask and blew me off.
When I asked the same question to the vets on staff at our boarding place they were happy to give a thorough, informed, and reassuring answer and it took about 2 minutes total.
Our current vet that we switched to in Civita often calls a day or two after our appointments to see how my dog is doing and if we have any more questions. They walk through all info, aftercare, what to look out for, and are even a little less expensive.
Edited to add: I was concerned about my previous dog's declining health symptoms and they said he was fine and brushed me off. I took him to another vet who told me he was not in good shape and it was "his time." He was gone within a couple weeks of talking to Cabrillo vets. I still wonder to this day if there was something that could have been done to make him more comfortable or extend his life some more. They also told me my current dog is overweight (you can still see the outline of his ribs under his skin a bit) and our current vet said he's at the ideal weight. So I'm just not that confident in Cabrillo's attention to detail in providing thorough and accurate care given how rushed it always is.

Just wanted my kitten the first in its series of FVRCP vaccines. They want an 80$ exam fee, for what? I dunno, I don’t need an exam for vaccines. Then also, as a cash paying customer trying to get a clear idea of the total cost for the visit was ridiculous.
The excuses given as to why I couldn’t get a cost breakdown were absurd, “your cat might need a booster”. For its first in a series of shots?
Their ‘topical dewormer’ is slightly better, says the receptionist, than the over the counter edibles, edible cat treat dewormer, you can get at a pet store. The pet store wants 18$ but they can’t let you know what theirs costs because it’s prescription.
This place wants to charge a premium for everything. If my cat had an emergency I’d drive the extra mins to avoid this place.
