I boarded my foster dog Zara from March 28th to April 1st. I’ve had her for about month and unfortunately had to take a trip out of state and no one was able to watch her.I work at a vet nearby and decided to try Greywood kennels out to see if it was a place I would recommend our clients for boarding.
I prepaid a few days prior in person and told one of the female staff members her medical history and brought all the needed paperwork prior to drop off.
The day of drop off I spoke with Madison and she was nice. Gave her the pre packaged food. I added anxiety meds, probiotics & pumpkin power for each meal ( breakfast lunch and dinner ) hoping it would help Zara adjust and not be so stressed out since this was our first time away since I got her as a foster dog. Madison sent me updates throughout her stay which I greatly appreciated and gave her 1 on 1 time which I am so very thankful for.
Madison informed me she has diarrhea her entire stay, which I apologized for but understand it might be stress related ( she has been cleared for all parasites prior so I wasn’t worried about anything like that ).
Upon pick up on April 1st I was there 8am. The owner Sheila introduced herself and asked if she could talk to me about Zara asking if I’ve checked her “ head “. I told her I’ve already had her checked out at the vet & actually have seen 2 specialists for her issues ( hit by car & malnutrition when I got her which left some residual limping which I told staff already and they were fine with ). She asked which vet I went to and I told her it was a local vet she flipped out started yelling at me. Saying I didn’t care for animals& I’m a horrible person. She apparently had a bad experience there ( again not my problem I don’t own the practice I just work there ). She was berating me insulting me, yelling at me and was slamming doors and shoving me out the door. I threatened to call the police and ended up calling them while in the parking lot because I did not feel safe. Is this how an owner treats someone ? I have never once met her, worked on her case, handled any sort of paperwork, billing or anything. Death by association is what it’s called. I was a paying customer that wanted a good first experience boarding my foster dog. I have never had such a bad experience before. This is NOT how an owner should deal with issue. I absolutely love my animals and I foster when I can and will not be taking dogs here or recommending them. Horrible experience. I picked up my dog and she is covered in poop. I understand she had loose stool but to hand her off to me and shove me out with her absolutely covered in poop ? Unacceptable. To Sheila, I hope you take some anger management classes & work on your people skills. I was nothing but nice & respectful to your staff and you.

This place is great! The staff is friendly, and my dogs Niko and Nala are always super happy and excited when I leave them there. I've been bringing them there for years. Asia did an awesome job of brushing them last time I was there. Can't say enough good things about them.

Could not be more pleased with the facility and care the owner and employees provide. They treat animals like their own. They will even send update videos if you’re missing your pup. They handle all size dogs. I have a corso and he loves being able to run around without issues.

I have nothing but high praise for Greywood Kennels in Lakeside. My dog Mac has spent weeks there over the past year the times I could not take him with me on my travels. He loved going to Greywood and the staff were always happy to see him. It is like going to a hotel and spa! And affordable!
Sadly, Mac passed this past week. However, when I ever need to kennel my animals, Greywood Kennels will be my first choice!
