I had been searching for a vet who charges reasonably for a neuter for my dog. My regular vet quoted me $1,500, and my friend said that was exorbitant. He recommended some low cost high volume places but when I researched those places, the reviews were generally bad and I just felt uncomfortable having my dog neutered there. Thankfully my daughter found Rancho Mesa Animal Hospital who does low cost spay and neuter.
Before the neuter, they required a full exam for my dog. Dr McCroskey examined my dog and she was most gentle and patient with him (he was highly anxious). She made me feel comfortable and put me at ease too.
The front desk staff are also very friendly and kind and answered all my concerns. When we brought our dog in on the day of the surgery, the staff carried and cuddled him. When we went to pick him up, they were patient and efficient. After seeing to all the paperwork, he was carried out to us.
We couldn’t be happier with the surgery by Dr Cooper and the service that we have received so far.
We don’t particularly fancy the location of the clinic (surrounded by car repair workshops), but will be switching vets for our two dogs to Rancho Mesa Animal Hospital.

The veterinarian was very nice and they did their best for Homer, my cat who had cancer. It was a weird situation where we had to rely on the veterinarian’s gut, since my cat was rapidly declining and the test results kept getting delayed. Us relying on the vet’s gut kept Homer from suffering for days, since we had to put him down. I really appreciate the accuracy and experience the vet had. They were very willing to put up with my constant phone calls when my cat was alive. She also called us a few days later to check on us.

Love these folks, Dr Volk took care of our Alohi, PeggySue, Enzo and Samantha. And our Nalu, we are so pleased that Dr Cooper is now providing the same wonderful loving care as well!!

They are wonderful & caring!!! Dr Cooper and her staff have been caring for our pets for years. They recently provided end of life care for our beloved cat Bowie. We are so appreciative for all of their efforts and compassion.

I’ve been taking my dogs and cats here for many years. They always provided excellent care for a reasonable fee but my last visit was a disappointment. Instead of the vet coming into the exam room, my dogs were taken back to be examined without me present so I wasn’t able to hear comments or concerns noted during the exam or ask any questions, or express my concerns. I hope this is a temporary policy due to COVID. If not, I most likely won’t be returning.
