We have been loyal patients to San Marcos Vet Clinic for many years, and I can confidently say they treat our pets as if they were their own. Dr. Ichord is a true treasure in this world. His job is incredibly challenging, especially when our beloved pets are in need, yet he handles it with remarkable grace. Throughout the years, we've had several pets, and I always turn to him for guidance during tough decisions. He considers their health, quality of life, our family's well-being, and even the financial implications involved. He truly understands that our pets are just as much a part of our family as the humans.
The front office staff may be busy, but they always take a moment to acknowledge you and your pet. They genuinely try to get to know you if you give them the chance.
Thank you, San Marcos Vet, for the love and compassion you've shown our family throughout the years.

Dr. Smollen walked into the lobby because she overheard my distress about her finding a mast cell tumor on my little Bailey. She offered to do a complete tumor removal right then, no appointment! The lab confirmed that Dr. Smollen had removed the cancer with clean biopsy borders! Bailey also had her 14 day stitches removed and it suture was very clean and smooth! I’m absolutely thrilled with what they’ve done for Bailey and me:)

I can’t recommend Dr Ichord enough - he’s kind, honest, and always recommends the most cost effective treatment options. We bring our 2 dogs to him, my parents have been seeing him with their dog for years, and I recently found out two of my friends also see Dr Ichord for their pets. I always feel confident I’m getting the best care for my dogs at a fair price.

I have been a customer for the past few years, and I can say that I have never felt such kindness from a vet before. I recently had to say goodbye to a dear pet, and the team was so wonderful. Dr. Ichord was truly amazing and sympathetic. They made the experience as comfortable as possible and even sent me a condolence card.

It was my first time at the vet with my dog since I just got him and i have nothing but nice things to say about the staff. they were extremely friendly and very nice especially front desk. my main concern in which I won’t be returning was that I felt like it was sort of rushed. they needed to sedate my dog for his ear infections and when I came to pick him up they just gave me him without any conversation of how it went or what the next steps would be. I had to ask the front desk about what they put in his ears, if it stays in there, etc. if I didn’t ask any questions I would have walked out of there knowing nothing. I thought the doctor or nurse would have came out to say that it went well and they cleaned it and told me that the ointment would stay in his ear. I am not sure if it is because I am young (which happens a lot) but I just was shocked on how vague they were and little detail there was.
