We are so grateful to Dr. Brent and the whole team at The Pet Hospital of Tierrasanta for helping us last minute on a Saturday with our dog Bella. Dr. Brent made an accurate diagnosis quickly and efficiently, and the entire staff went above and beyond to help us during a stressful time. They not only provided excellent care for Bella, but they also assisted us in finding an emergency surgeon right away. We couldn’t have asked for better support, and we highly recommend this compassionate and skilled team!

We were extremely disappointed with our experience here with Dr. D’Angelo. I brought in my 4-month-old Shiba Inu puppy, Niko, for his final round of vaccinations, and instead of completing the visit, Dr. D’Angelo refused to vaccinate him, claiming he was “too aggressive.”
However, this assessment didn’t make sense—Niko allowed the staff to hold him into the back room, let me pick him up afterward, and showed no signs of true aggression. What’s worse, he was so scared that he even pooped himself—which is a clear sign of fear, not aggression.
To make matters worse, Dr. D’Angelo also refused to microchip him, saying that the needle was “too big” and that he should wait until he’s neutered and under anesthesia. This is completely unnecessary—countless puppies get microchipped without sedation, and at only 11 lbs as of today, he is by no means too small for a standard microchip procedure.
Even the vet tech seemed too afraid to weigh him properly, which further showed a lack of confidence in handling a very normal, slightly nervous puppy.
Because of this, I had to take him elsewhere the same day. I went to VetCo, where the staff and veterinarian, Dr. Harrod, handled him confidently and without any issues. Niko was so comfortable that he let them hold him the entire time during his shots and didn’t even flinch during the vaccines or microchip. He was so relaxed that after the appointment, he didn’t even want to leave—he just laid there on the table asking for belly rubs! The only time he reacted at all was to the oral vaccine, which apparently tastes like banana.
This experience made it crystal clear that the issue was not my puppy—it was the way Dr. D’Angelo and her staff handled the situation. A skilled and confident vet should be able to manage a nervous puppy without refusing care.
I wouldn’t recommend this clinic for owners of independent or nervous breeds, as they seem unequipped to handle them properly. Thankfully, I found a vet who could, but I wouldn’t want another pet owner to go through the same unnecessary stress. No vet anywhere should EVER refer to a dog as "bad" let alone an 11lb, 4month old puppy.

This place is one of the best vet experiences I've ever had, and we're super lucky that it is nearby for us! We took our pup for her spay, and they were very concise and clear with all of the pricing and information. I also felt that the cost was more than reasonable, especially for the care that we got. She is almost healed and didn't have any complications or issues. They're also great about getting medications we needed, such as the heartworm and flea/tick supply. Would highly recommend!

We have been taking our cat to the clinic for a year and have always had an excellent experience.
From the friendly front desk team, vet nurses who truly cared for him to knowledgeable Dr D’Angelo, everyone has been fantastic. Homer was treated like a celebrity!
The pricing is clear and explained before hand. We also loved the app where we can book appointments easily.

I highly recommend them because while my dog was under during a procedure, they trimmed his nails, expressed his anal glands, and performed an otoscopic ear exam. I was happy that it was included. Nowadays, everything is extra. I was also extremely pleased the cost was reasonable even for surgery. I'm happy, Melvin is happy. You will be too!
